About 612

Welcome to Scouting at Trinity Christian Center

Our Troop was established in 2012 and our Pack in 2013. In 2019, we will be starting a new Troop for girls.

What's a Pack and What's a Troop?

Pack (Cub Scouts)

Boys and Girls in Kindergarten through 5th Grade.

The Pack is divided into Dens which correspond with grade levels. The Dens are led by adult Den Leaders.

The Pack camps a few times a year and the planning for the campouts is done by adults.

Troop (Scouts, BSA)

There are two troops. One for Boys and another for Girls. Both troops are for youth 11 years old or older, regardless of grade level.

The Troop is divided into Patrols of 6-8 scouts, led by Patrol Leaders, which are scouts themselves.

Our Troops camp every month and the planning for the campouts is done by the scouts with some help from the adults.

Meetings

Meetings are held on a regular basis, all year long, on Monday evenings. Regular attendance is expected for all youth who join our Troop or Pack. In the event school is cancelled due to inclement weather, scout meetings are also cancelled. Parents are expected to arrange transportation for their scouts to and from meetings. A calendar listing monthly  activities and local scout activities is distributed regularly and updated as changes occur. It is important that this calendar be retained as attendance at scout functions ensures a successful scouting experience.

Pack Meetings

The Pack meets from 7pm to 8pm, every Monday

A typical meeting includes: Opening and Announcements, a Game, Badge Requirements, and Closing.

Troop Meetings

The Troop meets from 7pm to 8:30pm, every Monday.

A typical meeting includes: Opening and Announcements, a Game, Scout Boards of Review, Scoutmaster Conferences, Patrol Planning Meetings, Activities such as Scout Skills or Merit Badge work, Scoutmaster's Minute and Closing.

Registration

Each member of the Troop and Pack must register with the Boy Scouts of America. This can be done in paper form or through the www.beascout.org website. Each year, each persons registration must renewed. This process is called "recharter" and is handled by the Troop and the Pack. Fees for recharter are usually collected in October.
